South County Hospital launches <br>its 2009 free lecture series

South County Hospital is holding a series of free educational lectures at locations throughout the community, starting with a session on heart health this Thursday, Feb. 5, at 6:30 p.m., in the North Kingstown Free Library, that will be led by Dr. Aaron Weisbord.
“We believe the health of a community begins with education, and with their support we will continue to provide all of the preventative screenings and outreach programs people have come to rely on from South County Hospital,” said Louis Giancola, the hospital’s president and CEO.
Other community outreach efforts by the hospital – based in the Wakefield section of South Kingstown – include free health screenings, workshops, classes, publications and a wide range of wellness information on the Web.
The lecture topics are often selected based on feedback and requests from community members. Upcoming sessions also include:

  • Feb. 10 and March 10, April 14 and May 12, 7 to 9 p.m.: “Baby-Ready Pets,” in the Frost Family Pavilion, first-floor conference room.
  • Feb. 26, 6:30 p.m.: “Alzheimer’s or Age?” with Dr. Peter Bellafiore, at The Neighborhood Guild, South Kingstown.
