PROVIDENCE – Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island has named Kevin Splaine executive vice president of care integration and management, leading the network management, pharmacy and care integration teams to drive BCBSRI’s efforts to make health care more affordable for Rhode Islanders.
Splaine, a health care executive with nearly 25 years of experience working with hospitals and health systems, will also focus on partnering with providers to transform delivery systems while advancing quality of care, utilization management, pharmacy operations and clinical initiatives.
“Kevin brings a deep experience working in provider systems and designing payment models to facilitate integration and innovation,” said Kim Keck, BCBSRI president and CEO. “Our commitment to improving access to high-quality affordable health care for Rhode Islanders defines Blue Cross as a local company dedicated to all the communities we serve. Kevin’s experience in delivering population health approaches will advance Blue Cross’ efforts on partnering with providers to transform the delivery system and create innovative new payment models.”
Splaine has held senior leadership roles at national and regional health systems, including Michigan-based Trinity Health, which spans 22 states with 93 hospitals and 109 continuing care locations, and Spectrum Health, which is comprised of 12 hospitals. Splaine also served as the chief operating officer and chief strategy officer for Penn State Hershey Health System.

A Massachusetts native, Splaine earned a bachelor’s degree at Harvard University and a master’s degree in health administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
