WARWICK – T.F. Green Airport was named No. 6 in Money magazine’s Top 15 Best Airports in the country as part of its 2018 Best In Travel awards, the R.I. Airport Corp. announced Friday.
The awards used J.D. Power and Associates ratings, reader reviews from Travel + Leisure, on-time arrival rates, security delays, and traveler amenities such as shops and restaurants. The magazine considered 80 airports in the nation for the awards.

“Here in Rhode Island and throughout the region, it is widely understood what a gem we have in T.F. Green Airport from a standpoint of access and convenience. We are extremely pleased with this acknowledgment and this ranking nationally,” said Iftikhar Ahmad, president and CEO of RIAC, in a statement.
The feature did not include any details as to why T.F. Green was chosen other than its on-time arrivals (82.35 percent) and that it has 11 restaurants located in the terminal. Only the No. 1 airport received a detailed breakdown of its qualifications.
That airport was John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, Calif., which was noted to have a calming atmosphere. The airport is said to have reduced both auditory and visual noise, is easily accessible and has an expedient security process. Portland, Ore.’s Portland International Airport ranked No. 2 on the list.
