
PROVIDENCE – The Talbots Inc. store inside the Providence Place mall is officially closing.
The clothing store’s lease with the Providence mall is up at the end of the month and the store said it will not renew it. Its last day of business will be Jan. 23, said Meredith Paley, spokesperson for Talbots.

Paley said the closure was “mutually agreed upon.” Representatives for Providence Place declined to comment on the store’s closure.
The Hingham, Mass.-based retailer has hundreds of locations throughout the United States. In addition to its Providence location, it has three other stores in Rhode Island – in Barrington, Cranston and Newport.
