Tech firms, entrepreneurs, innovators gear up for August SBIR Road Tour

WARWICK – Registration is open for the Aug. 22 Small Business Innovation Research Road Tour at the Crown Plaza Providence-Warwick.

Registered attendees can hear about non-dilutive (doesn’t require ownership shares) forms of funding from early-stage funding program managers. According to the SBIR, technology entrepreneurs will also get access to state and local resources, hear from a Success Stories panel of local entrepreneurs and have one-to-one, prescheduled sessions with SBIR representatives.

Agencies that will be present at the SBIR Road Tour session in Warwick include the Department of Energy, Department of Defense, NASA, Naval Sea Systems Command and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, according to the SBIR.

Technology innovators in unmanned systems, cybersecurity, advanced materials, defense and health are encouraged to attend, as are women- and minority-owned businesses.

The SBIR Road Tour is hosted by the Rhode Island Science & Technology Advisory Council, R.I. Commerce Corp. and Rhode Island Procurement and Technical Assistance Program.

The program agenda runs from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Ticket sales end Aug. 9. Registration can be made here. One-to-one session reservations are first come, first served.
