PROVIDENCE – Tech Force, Rhode Island’s IT workforce-training and grant services organization, has put out a call for applicants for its May 2017 “IT On Demand” training program.
The 16-week program, set to begin May 15, is an employment boot camp that provides business management and technical training for those seeking entry-level IT careers as helpdesk operators, PC maintenance workers, network technicians, and network administrators. It also offers eight weeks of paid on-the-job training with a local IT employer.

The Tech Force website states that “it is anticipated participants will be hired after successful completion of the program.”
According to Tech Force, 98 percent of all Rhode Island businesses hire and employ IT workers, with entry-level wages averaging $35,000 or higher.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma, post-secondary degree or GED at minimum. To be eligible, applicants must also have been long-term unemployed or underemployed and have collected unemployment insurance in Rhode Island. Participants are not required to have previous IT education or work experience.
