PROVIDENCE – Tech Collective on Monday announced it has opened nominations and applications for its 2017 Tech10 Awards program in partnership with Rhode Island Monthly magazine.
This is the program’s seventh year since Tech Collective, the state’s tech industry association, established the Tech10 Awards in 2000 to honor champions within Rhode Island’s business and technology community. This year’s awards will recognize entrepreneurs and IT practitioners as well as individuals and organizations who have contributed to the state’s technology ecosystem at large.
“We are excited to be partnering with Rhode Island Monthly for the seventh year of the Tech10 awards,” said John Smithers, CEO of Tech Collective, in a release. “For the past six years, Tech10 recognized individuals for their technical expertise and for growing the tech community in Rhode Island. The 2017 Tech10 Award program celebrates the variety of efforts and contributors driving Rhode Island’s innovative technologies.”
This year, applicants can apply in multiple categories, Tech Collective said, and multiple winners will be awarded in each of the following categories:
- Entrepreneurship / Startups
- Techies to Watch
- Tech Leadership
- Community Partner
- Youth Engagement
- Tech Educator
- Workforce Development Champion
- Women in Tech
- Company Innovation
Individuals can apply for the awards themselves or submit nominations or applications for colleagues, employees, clients or partners at www.tech10awards.com. The deadline for applications is Monday, Aug. 14.
The 2017 Tech10 Award recipients will be selected by a judging committee of industry professionals, showcased in the November issue of Rhode Island Monthly magazine, and honored at an awards celebration to be held in mid-November.
In addition to the 10 award categories, an additional award will be presented by Cox Business. The Next Tech Generation Award, chosen by the leadership of Rhode Island’s largest tech-driven companies, is presented to an individual leading their company forward in the field of technology who is recognized for their important contribution as a future leader in the industry. “As an evolving media world embraces convergence and multiplatform providers of information, we are keenly aware of the role technology will play not only in our business but in the lives of all Rhode Islanders,” said Rhode Island Monthly publisher John Palumbo. “As a media entity that provides an ongoing view of life in Rhode Island for the past 28 years, this partnership is fitting to bring much needed exposure to the professionals who are involved in so many levels of technology development.”
The 2017 Tech10 Awards are sponsored by Cox Business and Amica Insurance.
