Textron defense division wins award

HUNT VALLEY, Md. – For the second consecutive year, AAI Corp., a division of Providence-based Textron Inc., has won the North American Unmanned Systems Technology Innovation of the Year Award given by research firm Frost & Sullivan.
The company cited AAI’s ability to link its unmanned aircraft, such as the Shadow 200, with manned vehicles to facilitate the transmission of battlefield data. In addition, AAI was praised for increasing interoperability among unmanned platforms through its One System Ground Control Station (OSGCS).
“AAI not only designs these unmanned aircraft systems,” said AAI Vice President of Unmanned Aircraft Systems Steve Reid, “we send our skilled field service representatives to live and work alongside America’s warfighters. They provide us with valuable feedback that we develop into new features and capabilities.”
Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Lindsay Voss said that AAI is “at the forefront of developing unmanned aircraft and ground control stations that are eliminating UAS interoperability challenges in the battlefield and advancing the capabilities of these vital platforms.”
