Textron unit to provide battle-tracking system

PROVIDENCE – Overwatch, an operating unit of Textron Systems, said on March 30 that the U.S. Army will include its SoldierEyes smartphone-enabled analysis and battle-tracking system in its field tests of smartphones, network equipment and applications.
The tests are part of the Army’s Brigade Modernization Command initiatives; a goal of the BMC is to evolve the SoldierEyes system to address “situational awareness needs of soldiers in full-spectrum operations,” Textron said in a news release.
SoldierEyes allows the collection, reporting and communication of geo-reference information – video, reports, photos, etc. – between soldiers and existing command, control, communications, computers and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems (C4ISR).
“It is a system that tracks across all six warfighting functions: movement and maneuver, fires, intelligence, sustainment, command and control, and protection,” said Col. Marisa Tanner, division chief, Future Force Integration Directorate, TRADOC, U.S. Army.
SoldierEyes operates with 3G, 4G and WiFi networks and connects through the Fastcom technology in remote areas of the world where reliable connections are not available.
SoldierEyes operates on existing government servers through cloud architecture.
