Textron’s HQ earns EPA’s Energy Star

PROVIDENCE – The Textron Inc. headquarters building has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star designation for the building’s energy efficiencies.
The award signifies that the downtown building performs in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency.
“We’ve worked to create a comfortable, productive work environment for our employees and tenants that is also energy efficient and economically smart,” said Joseph Winarski, director of real estate and corporate services. “We’re proud of the work we have done and will continue to work towards achieving even greater energy efficiency.”
Textron, a defense and industrial contractor, said it cut energy costs at the 40-year-old building by 30 percent.
Textron said that commercial buildings with Energy Star designations use an average of 35 percent less energy than typical buildings and release 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. &#8226
