WARWICK – Total passenger traffic at T.F. Green Airport in November fell 10.1 percent from its level the month before to 403,970 passengers, according to the latest figures from the R.I. Airport Corporation. That was the lowest level since February and the lowest November level since 2003.
The number of passengers who boarded flights at the Warwick airport fell 11.4 percent compared with October to 202,108.
Compared with the same month a year ago, total passengers at T.F. Green fell 2.3 percent in November, while the number of passengers boarding planes at the airport fell 2.8 percent, the RIAC figures show.
In the first 11 months of 2007, 4.66 million passengers passed through T.F. Green, a decline of 3.4 percent from the year-ago total of 4.83 million. But that still put the airport within easy reach of RIAC’s goal of 5 million passengers in 2007. T.F. Green needed only 335,299 total passengers last month – 16.8 percent fewer than the 402,935 passenger average of the previous four Decembers and 11 percent fewer than the December 2006 total of 376,630 passengers – to reach its full-year goal.
Southwest Airline maintained its No. 1 position flying 209,695 passengers in or out of T.F. Green in November for a market share of 51.9 percent. That was more than twice the 82,075 flights and 20.3 percent market share of No. 2 US Airways. Delta Airlines was No. 3, with 25,247 passengers or 6.3 percent.
Total cargo at T.F. Green declined 24.7 percent compared with November 2006 to 3.66 million pounds. Freight shipments declined 27.0 percent to 2.94 million pounds while mail fell 13.5 percent to 721,469 pounds.
The R.I. Airport Corporation (RIAC) is a quasi-public organization, based at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, that oversees Green and the state’s five general aviation airports. Additional information is available at www.pvdairport.com.
