NORTH KINGSTOWN – Toray Plastics (America) Inc., a subsidiary of Japan-based Toray Industries, has promoted 17-year company veteran Richard Schloesser to the position of executive vice president.
“We are honored by Rick Schloesser’s dedication, enthusiastic leadership, extraordinary expertise and the countless contributions he has made to the company, and are very pleased to announce this well-deserved, historic appointment,” Kojiro Maeda, president of Toray Plastics (America), said in a statement.
Schloesser, the senior vice president and general manager of Torayfan since 2002, joined Toray Plastics (America) in 1990 as a sales and marketing manager with that division and rose through the ranks. He previously had worked at Exxon Mobil, in the oil division for 13 years and the films division for 10.
His role under Toray’s new localization program will be to provide unified leadership to Toray Plastics (America)’s U.S. operations, which include the Torayfan polypropylene division, Lumirror polyester division and the Virginia-based PEF division specializing in olefin foams.
Four other promotions also were announced by the company as part of its localization strategy. Michael Brandmeier, a Torayfan vice president, was named to replace Schloesser as the division’s vice president and general manager. Scott Van Winter, a director of sales and marketing at Lumirror, was promoted to director and general manager. Jeffrey Lippy, a former president of the Toray Automotive Group of North America, was promoted to general manager of Toray Plastics (America)’s PEF division. And Christopher Roy, a member of the sales team at Torayfan since 1998, was named the division’s director of sales and marketing.
“Each executive involved in the additional promotions brings a wealth of experience which will be invaluable to our immediate and long-term success,” Maeda said.
Toray Plastics (America) Inc. and Toray Plastics (America) PEF are divisions of Toray Industries Inc., the world’s leading maker of synthetic fibers, plastics and high-performance films. Additional information is available at www.TorayFilms.com.
