PROVIDENCE – Tufts Health Plan’s fully insured commercial plans, including employer-sponsored plans, will offer unlimited acupuncture coverage as of the beginning of 2020.
Members covered by commercial plans will be able to access the service without prior authorization or referrals but will be responsible for a copay comparable to those charged for a primary care or specialist visit.

“Acupuncture has a wide range of uses and can particularly be helpful in the area of pain management,” said Dr. Claire Levesque, chief medical officer for commercial products at Tufts Health Plan. “Expanding our acupuncture coverage is just another way we are working to help our members receive the holistic care they need and deserve.”
