PROVIDENCE – App-based transportation company Uber Technologies Inc. has launched its rewards program in Providence, the company announced, a loyalty program awarding points for using Uber and Uber Eats.
Uber Rewards has four membership levels – blue, gold, platinum and diamond – and users can join for free through the Uber app. Once users opt in, according to Uber, they will get $5 added to their Uber Cash balance for every 500 points earned; those points can then be used for rides or Uber Eats.

The gold membership adds the benefit of flexible cancellations, with cancellation fees refunded if users rebook within 15 minutes. Platinum members get the gold membership benefits, plus the ability to lock in a lower price on a favorite route on UberX, even during traffic.
Diamond membership offers the benefits of the other levels plus dedicated phone support and free surprise upgrades. Diamond members, said Uber, also get three Uber Eats orders every six months with the delivery fees waived.
