Utman Randall named executive director of The United Theatre

WESTERLY – The United Theatre has named Lisa Utman Randall executive director, the nonprofit announced Monday.

Utman Randall currently serves as the executive director of the Jamestown Art Center, where she began in 2009. Her appointment will take effect in January. The previous executive director for the organization was Simon Holt, who served from 2013 to 2017.

United Theatre also announced Monday that it had appointed Tony Nunes as the nonprofit’s artistic director. Prior to joining the theater as artistic director, Nunes served as assistant vice president of public relations for The Washington Trust Co. He has worked with the nonprofit since 2013. Nunes is the organization’s first artistic director.

United Theatre also said that a $12 million project to renovate the United Theatre building, as well as combine it with the adjacent former Montgomery Ward building, is projected to finish in fall 2020. The expansion will include a three-screen, first-run cinema, multiuse performance venues, a restaurant and an arts education center, among other features. The project broke ground in May.
