Webster Bank hires Gillespie as senior vice president of brand marketing

PROVIDENCE – Colin Homer Gillespie has been appointed senior vice president of brand marketing for Webster Bank, reporting to Chief Marketing Officer Dawn C. Morris.

Gillespie comes to Webster Bank after a 17-year career with The LEGO Group, where he held several positions, including president of LEGO Education North America; vice president of marketing, LEGO Latin America; and general manager, vice president of the LEGO direct-to-consumer group in Europe. Most recently, Gillespie served as executive in residence at New Profit, a Boston-based national nonprofit venture philanthropy fund.

Gillespie has been recognized for his deep marketing experience and his personal ability to inspire people around a common purpose to produce new category launches, growth in retail partnerships and innovative brand engagements, all designed to strengthen customer acquisition and advocacy.

“Colin has demonstrated that he is adept at transforming consumer insights into memorable and authentic brand experiences,” said Morris.

A resident of West Hartford, Conn., Gillespie earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA in marketing, with distinction, from the Wake Forest University School of Business.

Gillespie is a strategic fellow with LEAP Innovations, a nonprofit organization that connects innovation and education to transform the way children learn. He also volunteers as a coach for the West Hartford Youth Lacrosse League and has participated in group bike rides such as the Pan-Mass Challenge.
