WellOne Primary Medical and Dental Care and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island partnered with Reach Out and Read Road Island to host a seasonally themed story time and book distribution during the Pascoag Pumpkin Festival.
Children and families gathered at WellOne’s community health center in Burrillville to listen to stories and enjoy cider, popcorn and sugarless lollipops. Each child was given an age-appropriate book of his or her choice.
“Reach Out and Read provides an invaluable service by promoting the development of critical early-reading skills in children through the unique relationship between parents and medical providers,” said Peter Bancroft, president and CEO of WellOne. “We at WellOne are proud to participate in this program by distributing books during our pediatric wellness visits and encouraging parents to read to their children. We are also grateful to Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island for funding this service for their patients.” &#8226
