Westerly Hospital hosts Alzheimer’s film screening

As part of a national effort to encourage individuals to learn more about Alzeimer’s disease, The Westerly Hospital and The Carriage House Assisted Living are hosting a free four-part screening and panel discussion of HBO’s new documentary film series, “The Alzheimer’s Project.”
The series, which premiered May 10, focuses on the lives of individuals with Alzheimer’s and their families, and takes a close look at the groundbreaking discoveries being made by the country’s leading scientists as they work toward a cure.
Each session of the four-part program will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the hospital’s Henry J. Nardone Conference Center. Sessions will begin with the viewing of a portion of the series, followed by a panel discussion led by Bob Elmer, administrator of The Elms and Carriage House, and several expert panelists, including Dr. Roland Losos, a geriatrics specialist at the hospital; clinical staff from The Carriage House, the Eldereval Geriatric Assessment and Management Center, and The Westerly Adult Day Services; and Liz Morancy of the Rhode Island Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
