Winokers to receive 2007 R.I. Humanitarian Award

The Denver-based National Jewish Medical and Research Center today announced that Jim and Marilyn Winoker of Belvoir Properties Inc. have been selected to receive the 2007 Rhode Island Humanitarian Award.
Jim Winoker, CEO of Belvoir Properties and a Brown University graduate, has an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business. He has served in key roles for organizations including Brown, Brandeis University, Providence College, the City of Providence, the Providence Foundation, the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, the New England Council, the Providence Industrial Development Corporation, the New England Electrical System and the Original Bradford Soap Works. He also has been active in the Jewelry Institute, the former Manufacturing Jewelers and Silversmiths (now the Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America) and the Jewelry District Association. He is a member of the Dunes Club, Squantum Club, Hope Club, University Club, Brown University Faculty Club and Harvard Club of New York.
Marilyn Winoker, chairman of Belvoir Properties, is a graduate of Boston University. She has been active in organizations including the R.I. Industrial Recreational Building Authority, the R.I. Council on Economic Education, the R.I. Board of Governors for Higher Education, the Children’s Crusade, the Jewelry District Association. the Providence Preservation Society, Preserve Rhode Island, the Jewelry District Association, the Rhode Island Philharmonic, the Jewish Federation of Rhode Island, In-Sight, the Children’s Museum’s Grandparents Guild and the Rhode Island Commodores.
The Winokers – both Providence natives – are to be honored at the Rhode Island Humanitarian Award Luncheon Thursday, May 10, at the Providence Biltmore Hotel, 11 Dorrance St.

The annual luncheon will benefit the nonprofit National Jewish Medical and Research Center (www.njc.org), founded in 1899, a leader in the study and treatment of lung, allergic and immune disorders. The event is chaired by Donna C. Cupelo of Verizon Communications; event treasurer is Stephen L. Key of Key Consulting LLC.
