The sixth season of StyleWeek Northeast will kick off on January 27 and run through February 2, at the historical Providence Biltmore hotel in the Grand Ballroom. The weeklong event will showcase fifteen designer runway shows in addition to an installation by Theory, an accessories showcase, SEED a student designer competition presented by Swarovski, and Red on the Runway a StyleWeek challenge runway event in support of the American Heart Association. Invitations are already on their way to industry professionals.

 

Since StyleWeek’s inception forty designers have walked down its runway. “Now in its sixth year, StyleWeek Providence showcases the work of talented designers who live and work right here in our city and throughout the region. StyleWeek is an exciting celebration of fashion and design in Rhode Island’s Creative Capital, and I encourage everyone to attend,” said Mayor Angel Taveras.

The sixth season will feature the following designers in the order that they will show, Jess Abernethy, Sarah Prost, Marcel Plante, Stephanie Kolanko, Kara Wickman presented by Scott Volkswagen, Kent Stetson presented by Scott Volkswagen, a Maria Del Carmen Mercado installation, Susan Troy, Tatiana Cueva, MEN, Jillian Banta, Millie Bautista, Chances R Designs by Toni Lyn Spaziano, Nick Pini presented by Flaunt Boutique, Liz Bang, and finally the week’s closer Jonathan Joseph Peters presented by Redken. Many surprises are in store for attendees; Kent Stetson describes his models as “not human, horribly hideous and uncooperative.”

 

 

 

 

StyleWeek President and Founder Rosanna Sinel is looking ahead in excitement, “From Kent Stetson’s challenging models to my father walking in Red on the Runway this will be the most memorable StyleWeek to date.”

 

In addition to clothing designers StyleWeek features up and coming accessories designers in an accessories showcase located inside L’Apogee on the 17th and 18th floor of the Providence Biltmore. Accessory Showcase participants include Skiler Love, Flaunt Boutique, Zenuj, Exit by Nitza, Haute Tags, Kent Stetson, Dao Designs, Restored by Design, Black Black Moon, Harliquinn Designs, Stella & Dot, Mallory Musante, Felt Sutra, Frueii, and Calico.

 

This season will mark the third installment of Red on the Runway, a fashion event to benefit the American Heart Association, on January 28 at 7 p.m. This event carries out StyleWeek’s mission to educate and fight the effects of heart disease. Survivors and advocates will model one-of-a-kind red looks, specifically crafted for the event by our amazing fashion designers Kara Wickman, Susan Troy, Jess Abernethy, Toni Lyn Spaziano, Hope Macdonald, and Marc Allen will be styling all male participants.

 

The second annual SEED competition featuring student designers from three schools in the region on Wednesday, January 30th, 2013 at the Providence Biltmore beginning at 5:30 p.m. SEED challenges student designers to create a one of a kind garment based on criteria set by a panel of judges comprised of industry professionals including Nylon Magazine. The winner of the competition will receive a generous prize package that includes two months of StyleWeek PR, and the opportunity to have an installation at StyleWeek Northeast in August 2013 Known for its innovative products, Swarovski will sponsor the inventive event.

 

StyleWeek aims to make the fashion world easily accessible, and offers 120 tickets per night to the public for purchase. Tickets can be purchased for opening night and weekend nights for sixty dollars, tickets for the SEED event are thirty dollars, front row and general seating for Red on the Runway can be purchased for sixty and forty dollars respectively, and for all other nights tickets may be purchased for forty dollars. The Providence Biltmore, the Rhode Show, Providence Monthly, Redken, Flaunt Boutique, Coast 93.3, Swarovski, Alex and Ani, and Salon Bianco sponsor this season’s festivities.
