Boston tech job openings surge

URBANDALE, Iowa – The number of technology job openings in Boston surged 27 percent in November, when compared to the same month last year, according to Dice.com.
The technology career site said there were 3,225 positions available as of Nov. 1. Boston ranked sixth for the number of openings.

New York/New Jersey had the most positions available – 8,965 – but had less growth, 5 percent. In second place was Washington, D.C./Baltimore, then: Silicon Valley, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

  • Project manager.
    Most jobseekers were looking for positions as:

  • Business analyst.
  • Project manager.
  • Software engineer or software developer.
  • Network engineer.
  • Systems administrator.
    Nationwide there were 81,680 openings listed on the site as of Nov. 1 and the U.S. technology unemployment rate was 4.2 percent, Dice said.
