Passengers give T.F. Green high marks

WARWICK – T.F. Green Airport received high marks from passengers in a customer satisfaction survey released Thursday by market researcher J.D. Power and Associates.

Among small airports – those with fewer than 10 million passengers per year – T.F. Green ranked No. 6 out of 24 in the J.D. Power survey, with a score of 750 on a 1,000-point scale.

That was good enough to place T.F. Green in J.D. Power’s second-highest category, which includes airports rated “better than most” in passenger surveys.

Westlake Village, Calif.-based J.D. Power, a unit of McGraw-Hill Cos., asked air travelers to rank the airports on accessibility, check-in, security, terminal facilities, food and retail services, and baggage claim. More than 12,100 passengers who took a roundtrip flight in 2009 gave evaluations for the study, J.D. Power said.

The average score for small airports was a 721. Indianapolis International Airport topped the list with a 777, while San Jose International ranked last with a score of 645. Boston’s Logan International Airport got a 644 and ranked second to last among 21 medium-sized airports.

Air travelers’ favorite parts of Green were its check-in and baggage claim operations, while their least favorite was its food and retail services.
