Five Washington Trust board members re-elected

WESTERLY – Five members of Washington Trust Bancorp Inc.’s board of directors were re-elected last week during the company’s annual meeting, and another longtime director retired.
Gary P. Bennett, Larry J. Hirsh, Mary E. Kennard, H. Douglas Randall III and John F. Treanor were returned to the board for three-year terms.
James P. Sullivan, a former finance officer at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence, had been a director since 1983 before stepping down last week.
Approximately 150 shareholders attended the April 21 meeting at the Westerly Public Library for the parent company of The Washington Trust Co., the largest independent bank based in Rhode Island.
Bennett, a consultant and former chairman and CEO of Analysis & Technology Inc., has been a director since 1994. He is the chairman of the compensation committee.
Hirsch, former president of Westerly Jewelry Co. Inc., has been a director since 1994.
Kennard, vice president and university counsel at American University, has been a director since 1994.
