Though maintaining a positive tone, the Federal Reserve Bank’s Beige Book report on U.S. economic activity did note that four of the nation’s districts – including the Boston region – have experienced slackening growth.
“I still think that the underlying economic fundamentals are conducive to a pickup in growth as we move thought 2007 and 2008,” said Chicago Fed President Michael Moskow, according to a Bloomberg News report.

The Beige Book report follows a downward revision of the nation’s GDP for the 2006 fourth quarter to a 2.2-percent annual rate, with a recognition that factory orders, investment spending and the housing market all experienced weakness.
