PROVIDENCE — Sen. John J. Tassoni Jr., D-Smithfield and Glocester, has filed two bills designed to control the use and disposal of mercury, a recognized toxin used in industrial and medical, processes. One bill would regulate products containing mercury, the other would require Department of Health warnings about mercury contained in fish products. His legislation is supported by the Zero Mercury Campaign, Clean Water Action, the Sierra Club Rhode Island chapter and various environmental and health organizations.
