Carolina Jorge will assist Latin American hair loss patients with pre/post surgery
CRANSTON, Rhode Island (April 12, 2011) – Leonard Hair Transplant Associates has hired a new Portuguese-speaking surgical technician to better meet the needs of its Latin American clientele. Carolina Jorge, 26, from Raynham, Massachusetts, has been hired by Dr. Robert Leonard to better communicate with his Brazilian and Portuguese-speaking patients during the consultation, hair transplant surgery, and in the post-operative period.
“We’re thrilled to have Carolina here with us,” said Dr. Robert Leonard, Founder and Chief Surgeon of Leonard Hair Transplant Associates. “Her addition to my team will help us to better serve our Portuguese-speaking patients.”
Carolina is a native of Goimia, Brazil, where she was born and raised before coming to the United States in 2005. Once in the United States, Carolina established residency in Raynham, Massachusetts, among the area’s modest Brazilian-American population. Over the next six years, she put herself through school and earned a Medical Assisting Degree from The Saulter School in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
“Dr. Leonard showed so much passion for wanting to help his patients that I wanted to come here to learn more,” said Carolina. “Dr. Leonard is a great mentor and I’m looking forward to learning from him.”
At Leonard Hair Transplant Associates, Carolina is the point person with Brazilian patients. “It helps to put them at ease when someone is here that can speak their native language,” said Dr. Leonard. “We see lots of patients who not speak English. Carolina breaks the ice and helps them feel more comfortable going through the entire hair restoration experience.”
During the consultation, Carolina helps patients to communicate their needs for hair restoration, and helps Dr. Leonard to review the personal and family histories of hair loss with the patient and to discuss medical procedures and treatments he can provide to them. When it comes time for the procedure, Carolina reviews the surgical instructions with patients and helps Dr. Leonard to prepare the donor area for harvesting. Carolina then assists the surgeon with the removal of the hair follicles and helps to dissect the grafts under magnification for transplantation.
Carolina currently works at Dr. Leonard’s Newton office on Mondays and his Cranston office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
