City Year Rhode Island recently received a $25,000 grant from the Amgen Foundation to support the organization’s afterschool programs. City Year partners with the Providence After School Alliance to provide programs for more than 600 students at DelSesto Middle School, Esek Hopkins Middle School, Gilbert Stuart Middle School and Roger Williams Middle School.
“Mentoring relationships on the educational setting are crucial in helping youth build a foundation for future success,” said Tony Pankau, vice president, Rhode Island operations, Amgen Inc. “The Amgen Foundation is committed to improving educational outcomes by funding innovative and effective programs, such as the programs offered by City Year.”
The Amgen Foundation has been providing support to City Year Rhode Island and other City Year locations for several years.
“We are so grateful to have support from the Amgen Foundation in our service,” said Jennie Johnson, executive director, City Year Rhode Island. “Our work wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our friends at Amgen.” &#8226
