WEST WARWICK – AstroNova Inc., maker of data-visualization technologies, last week unveiled four new label presses and printers under its TrojanLabel and QuickLabel brands.
The QuickLabel QL-30 and QL-60 are compact, monochrome high-speed thermal transfer printers, ideal for barcoding and other one-color labeling applications. Both systems feature a full-color touchscreen interface, complete with video and Wi-Fi, and can produce labels for rugged materials such as cardboard boxes, pallets and other surfaces exposed to extreme conditions.

Under the company’s Trojan brand, which manufactures light-production presses and specialty printers, AstroNova is introducing the Trojan T2-C tabletop press to support high-capacity label production. With the full capacity of a larger press, the T2-C has a footprint of less than 4 square feet and is optimized with automatic tension control and a built-in web guide. With print speeds up to 12 inches per second and resolution up to 1,600 dots per inch, the T2-C is a press designed for brand owners and print shops who want to add high-resolution color inkjet labels to their portfolio.
Finally, the Trojan T4 is AstroNova’s new all-in-one digital label-production and finishing press, extending the TrojanLabel product line into high-production professional label converting. The T4’s digital inkjet press is designed to print, laminate, die-cut and slit full-bleed color labels or blank labels up to resolutions of 1,600 dots per inch and at speeds of up to 60 feet per minute. AstroNova describes the Trojan T4 as a robust, single-pass press “designed for high-capacity production, yet perfect for short label runs,” taking up less than 7.5 square feet of workspace.
The new product lines, announced in a Sept. 25 press release, were officially unveiled at Pack Expo 2017 and Labelexpo Europe 2017, two of the world’s largest exhibitions, held last week in Las Vegas and Brussels, respectively.
“Over the past 20 years, we have continually raised the bar for innovative label and specialty printer solutions that economically produce exquisite quality labels that maximize the marketing effectiveness of our customers’ products – and this year is no different,” said AstroNova CEO and President Gregory A. Woods. “Attendees will be able to see firsthand how the quality, speed, resolution and reliability of our TrojanLabel and QuickLabel products generate a return on investment that is unrivaled in the packaging and labeling industry.”
In August, AstroNova posted a $727,000 second-quarter net profit and a record quarterly revenue of $27.5 million, which Woods attributed to growth in the QuickLabel and TrojanLabel brands.
