Kahn, Litwin, Renza and Co. could almost qualify as a great place to work on the basis of one benefit alone: during tax season, the company hired a massage therapist to come to the office and give neck massages to anyone who asked.
Seriously, though, this certified public accounting and business consulting firm has a strong commitment to the health of its employees. The company has a Wellness Operating Plan directed by an employee committee. Workshops on topics like exercise, diet, and stress are offered, and employees formed several teams to join the Shape Up Rhode Island challenge last year.
Loree Dubois, senior tax manager, says the best thing about working there is the cooperative spirit among the workers. “The people here are by far the best people I’ve ever worked with,” Dubois said.
Dubois praises the managers’ communications efforts. “They hold monthly staff meetings and they are pretty transparent,” she said. “We all know what it going on.”
The company also operates an in-house education program that allows workers to stay up to date on current law.
Further, Dubois added, clients recognize and appreciate the collegiality on the staff. “Clients have come to love the expertise that we offer,” she said.
