INNOVATIVE COMPANIES 2020 MANUFACTURING

AVTECH Software Inc.

FOR 32 YEARS, AVTECH Software Inc. has been planning for the unexpected and developing building solutions, said Richard Grundy, AVTECH’s president and chief operating officer. Although most employees are currently working remotely, AVTECH has had good traction during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While AVTECH’s Room Alert product lines proactively monitor and report on temperature, humidity, power, flood/water leaks, fire/smoke damage, air flow and more, keeping technology secure is also a focal point. AVTECH’s Room Alert PRO product lines address cybersecurity and data confidentiality.

“On a regular basis, we’re innovating and incorporating the latest technology,” said AVTECH founder and CEO Michael Sigourney. “Today, [with] one worldwide community, we have to worry about security at a much higher level.”

New Room Alert PRO technology, Grundy said, meets or exceeds all applicable U.S. standards and regulations for banking, fin-tech and defense industries, and complies with the European Union’s General Data Protection regulation. He also said it’s a huge challenge to develop technology systems for worldwide compatibility.

AVTECH product lines serve local entities, including the city of Newport, CVS Health Corp. and the U.S. Naval Base. Nationally, it supports NASA vehicles, some federal agencies and even the White House. With a distribution center in Shannon, Ireland, and resellers, the Warren-based manufacturer sells to customers in 187 countries.

Many AVTECH customers become ambassadors for Room Alert services.

Learning how its customers use AVTECH’s products and understanding their challenges helps the company remain innovative and proactive. AVTECH recently developed a brand-new Mobile UV System, a device that sanitizes and disinfects the air and objects in classrooms, jail cells, hotel and conference rooms. Manufactured through an affiliate of AVTECH Software Ltd., AVTECH’s subsidiary in Ireland, the Mobile UV System’s “mobility, price point and ease of use are huge advantages,” Grundy said.
