Joe Devine, president of the Narragansett-based cybersecurity company, says Axiotrop’s recent growth is due to the company assisting with and becoming an assessor for a program the DOD has been working on – and which will soon become a requirement – called the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification, or CMMC.
The company says CMMC is a tiered model that requires defense contractors and subcontractors to implement cybersecurity standards at levels appropriate to the sensitivity of the information they handle. Its goal is to protect U.S. national defense information and ensure the security of the defense supply chain.
As a result, Axiotrop’s revenue grew 34.9% from $244,386 in 2022 to $329,755 in 2024.
“Even though it wasn’t a requirement for companies to do this yet, the companies we were working with were wanting to get ahead of it, and that’s what really has fueled the growth over the last couple of years,” Devine said.
