The Bank of America Charitable Foundation recently announced it will donate $50,000 to Trinity Repertory Company to support its “Project Discovery” program, which provides students and teachers with classroom workshops and residencies.
Rhode Island students who choose to explore the world of professional theater in greater depth also have the option of participating in the program’s School-to-Career Initiative, which gives them access to backstage tours, career workshops, job shadows and internships.
“Trinity Rep continues to reach tens of thousands of students each year, broadening their horizons and giving them a theater experience that many would not have otherwise.” said William F. Hatfield, president of Bank of America Rhode Island, in a statement.
“Through the generosity of Bank of America, thousands of Rhode Island students will have the opportunity to share in the excitement that only live theater can bring,” said Trinity Rep Artistic Director Curt Columbus. “Trinity Rep is more than just a great American theater; it is a living resource for local youth to discover their humanity and full potential through the example of the performing arts.”
Since 1966, more than 1 million students have participated in “Project Discovery,” according to the statement. •
