BankFive Foundation Fund donates $30K to community groups

NEW BEDFORD – The BankFive Foundation Fund has awarded grants totaling $30,000 to two community organizations in southeastern Massachusetts, the organization recently announced.

The foundation, an affiliate of Fall River-based BankFive, gave $25,000 to Casa dos Acores de Nova Inglaterra, also known as CANI, to support the FABRIC arts festival held Sept. 28 in Fall River.

The foundation also gave $5,000 to the Massachusetts Aquaculture Association to assist in the coordination, communication, regional economic business expansion and scientific research in the aquaculture industry over the next three years.

“These are two unique causes that we are very proud to support,” BankFive CEO and President William R. Eccles Jr. said in a statement.

“We are excited to support the FABRIC arts festival and for the positive impact it will have on the city of Fall River,” Eccles said. “The MAA plays an active role in addressing the needs of aquatic growers and is one of the fastest-growing forms of agriculture. We acknowledge the importance and value that the association has on the industry and the local economy.”
