BankNewport recently presented the Rhode Island Community Food Bank with a $1,307 donation, in addition to more than three-quarters of a ton of food. The funds were raised by employees during the bank’s Casual for a Cause program, in which employees make donations in order to have the opportunity to dress casual on Fridays in a designated month.
Coinciding with the bank’s Casual for a Cause program was its Feed the Need winter community food drive to benefit the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. BankNewport’s branch offices served as collection locations, where employees and customers could donate nonperishable foods such as canned meats, soups, fruits and vegetables, as well as rice, cereal, peanut butter, beans and whole-wheat pasta. All together, the BankNewport offices collected 1,576 pounds of food for the Food Bank.
The food donations will be distributed by the Rhode Island Community Food Bank to those in need through its network of more than 250 member agency programs. •
