BIF launches new Web site

PROVIDENCE – The Business Innovation Factory (BIF) has launched a redesigned Web site, the latest in a string of changes for the four-year-old nonprofit group.
The revamped site is at www.BusinessInnovation Factory.com.
Melissa Withers, BIF’s executive director, said the goal of the redesign was to “make it easier for visitors to find the content they were looking for.” The new site features prominent links to the organization’s projects and archived talks given at BIF’s annual autumn summit of entrepreneurs and innovators.
“We also wanted to make it easier for people in the community to connect with us,” Withers added, through links to the Twitter, Facebook and other social media pages of BIF’s principals. Visitors also can offer direct feedback on the site.
“So it provides, I think, opportunities for people to learn more about what we do, and get connected,” she said.
BIF is led by Saul Kaplan, who until recently was also the executive director of the R.I. Economic Development Corporation (EDC). The nonprofit describes itself as “a community of innovators collaborating to explore and test better ways to deliver value.”
The new site was designed by Jeff Drury, a Providence Web designer and consultant who is BIF’s interactive designer. Until recently, Drury was the EDC’s interactive designer, as well.
Next up on BIF’s agenda is a discussion and signing with Steven Johnson, author of “The Invention of Air,” on Monday, March 16 at 4 p.m. in the organization’s new studio at 60 Valley St., Providence. Registration is required.
