Bisaccia named human resource head for CVS

Lisa Bisaccia has been promoted to senior vice president and chief human resources officer for CVS Caremark Corp. Bisaccia has worked to enhance compensation practices, in addition to restructuring and managing human resources since joining the company in 2004. Previously, Bisaccia held a senior human resources position with FleetBoston Financial as the head of compensation and benefits. She has a B.A. from Trinity College and an MBA from the University of Connecticut.

PBN: How do you feel the role of human resources has changed over the course of your career?
BISACCIA: The role of human resources has evolved over time in a number of ways. Today, HR acts as a true business partner with a point of view on the overall business as well as overall stewardship of the human-capital assets of the organization. Business leaders realize that focused, long-term initiatives such as talent management, succession planning, organizational development, strategic compensation and diversity … are essential to grow and sustain a robust business and maintain a competitive edge. …
Within the field of HR, the definition and utilization of the various disciplines has evolved into professional communities of practice, requiring a balanced mix of a comprehensive body of knowledge, including theory and concepts integrated with practical and hands-on experience.

PBN: Has your membership in the Human Resources Policy Institute and the Society for Human Resources Management contributed to your role at CVS Caremark?
BISACCIA: Participating in professional organizations provides numerous benefits, including opportunities for professional networking, sharing best practices and staying up to date on the latest developments within the industry.

PBN: What is one of the goals you hope to achieve as the new senior vice president and chief human resources officer at CVS Caremark?
BISACCIA: I am fortunate enough to have been appointed the leader of a wonderful HR organization, comprised of dedicated and effective HR leaders and practitioners who continue to make their mark on our business. I hope to sustain that energy and provide even greater support to our businesses as we work to fulfill our mission, We strive to improve the quality of human life through expert care and innovative solutions in pharmacy and health care that are effective and easy for our customers. &#8226
