Blue Cross open enrollment deadline approaching

PROVIDENCE – Open enrollment for purchasing health insurance plans directly from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island is currently ongoing and will conclude on June 15.
Blue Cross is the only health insurer in Rhode Island to offer guaranteed coverage, regardless of health status or pre-existing conditions, during its annual open enrollment period.
Plans for both individuals and families are available to any Rhode Islander, including domestic partners, who cannot get health insurance through an employer, Medicare or Medicaid.
Blue Cross offers five individual and family plans, with differing levels of coverage, as well as a dental plan.
Blue Cross also offers three ways to reduce premiums for those who qualify, including:

  • AccessBlue, which helps qualifying individuals and families by paying a portion of their premium.
  • Preferred Rate, which offers lower premium rates based on age, gender, and health status, if individuals pass a health screening.
  • Wellness Reward Program, which allows individuals to earn a reward equal to 10 percent of their annual premiums if they complete a series of wellness requirements.
An informational meeting is scheduled for June 10 at the Comfort Inn in Pawtucket at 10:30 a.m. For more information, visit BCBSRI.com, or call (401) 351-BLUE (2583) or (800) 505-BLUE.
