Bryant opens labs to meet growing demand

SMITHFIELD – Bryant University is known for its strong business programs, but it’s not the only thing that’s taught there.
In fact, the school recently opened nearly 10,000 square feet of new laboratories stocked with more than half a million dollars worth of equipment for what school officials say is a growing number of science majors.
The new space includes two teaching labs and eight research labs for work being conducted by Bryant’s science and technology faculty and students.
Students include those pursuing the university’s newest degree program – a bachelor’s of science in environmental science. The school also says it is planning to add another science major – a bachelor’s of science in biology – in the next academic year. Bryant also has minors in environmental science and biotechnology.
The environmental science major includes an intensive research component that requires students to work one-on-one with a faculty member. &#8226
