EXETER – Carousel Industries of North America Inc. hosted Daisy Girl Scouts Troop 478 on Feb. 19, with the 5- to 7-year-olds working toward cybersecurity badges.

Company Chief Information Security Officer Jason Albuquerque led the 14 girls in a session at the company’s training room covering cybersecurity basics, safeguards and investigations.

Troop members learned about basic computer terminology, the parts of a computer, how computers are connected, how to protect information and stay safe online, and how to be a cybersecurity investigator and find hidden clues.

Games and prizes were part of the day.

Albuquerque said the Girl Scouts were from West Warwick, Warwick and Coventry. All requirements were completed in the two-hour session, except for an online survey the girls were doing as a troop. He cited Carousel’s involvement with the girls as important in light of the industry skills gap, as well as the need for diversity in the field.
