Warwick, R.I. – Oct. 13, 2010: The Community College of Rhode Island has appointed Richard Coren of Cranston to the position of Director of Marketing, Communications and Publications. Coren, who has served as a graphic designer in the CCRI Department of Marketing and Communications for the past three years, was chosen from a pool of more than 190 applicants for the director post succeeding Dennis Moore. He will begin his new duties on Oct. 18.
“Richard is an outstanding candidate and I am happy to have selected one of our own employees for this important administrative role,” said CCRI President Ray Di Pasquale. “Richard brings a range of talents and experiences to CCRI and I will look to him as a key player on the college’s team of administrators.”

For the past 25 years, Coren has worked in the marketing field and has a variety of experience in advertising, graphic design, public relations and printing. At CCRI, he has streamlined the course catalog, revamped the college’s athletic publications and developed award-winning materials that helped raise $4 million for the college’s capital campaign. His work has won seven marketing awards in his three years at the college. Prior to joining the college, he owned and operated a graphic design studio in Providence for 18 years where he was responsible for creating publications, ads, press releases, direct mail campaigns, billboards, posters, newsletters and sales tools, as well as researching and developing marketing and media plans for clients.
Coren has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Rhode Island College. He has presented his expertise in marketing for classes at Johnson & Wales and in seminars through the Central Chamber of Rhode Island. In addition, he is a past president of a local Business Network International chapter.
The Community College of Rhode Island, New England’s largest community college, has full-service campuses in Warwick, Lincoln, Providence and Newport and operates satellites in Downcity Providence and Westerly. CCRI enrolls an average of nearly 18,000 students annually in credit courses and thousands more in noncredit and workforce training classes and programs.
