CDC New England opens in Providence

PROVIDENCE – Nonbank lender CDC New England, a statewide provider of SBA 504 loans, has opened an office at 30 Exchange Terrace.
“This represents a significant investment of resources to support small businesses in Rhode Island,” said Garrett B. Hunter, Rhode Island state chairman of CDC New England. “We are expecting to have a substantial impact on new business growth and on the jobs that they help create.”
Hunter is the past president of the Business Development Company of Rhode Island and played a key role in establishing the Rhode Island Business Plan Competition. He also co-founded Cherrystone Angel Group, Rhode Island’s first angel investment group.
Hunter said he will team with Nancy M. Gibeau, CDC New England loan and investment officer, to work with businesses in Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts.
“We have established this office in Rhode Island because we see many deserving, local companies in need of capital and we believe that our loan and investment programs are well-suited to help them grow,” said Ken J. Smith, president of CDC New England’s affiliate company BDC Capital Corp. “We are looking forward to being of help to them.”
