Citizens named U.S. Bank of the Year

PROVIDENCE – Citizens Financial Group Inc. earned top honors in recent rankings by financial magazine The Banker, which named the company its U.S. Bank of the Year for 2022.

The Banker hailed the parent company for Rhode Island-based Citizens Bank for a steady and “ambitious” growth strategy, beginning from its initial public offering in 2014 to a series of recent acquisitions, including 80 East Coast branches of HSBC U.S. Bank N.A. and ­­Investors ­­Bancorp, which gave it a top-10 share of deposits in New York City. The magazine in its recognition also highlighted Citizens for its technology improvements and the benefits for customers.

The annual Bank of the Year awards recognize one bank in 120 countries based on performance, innovation, adding customer value and leadership in society.
