Citizens ranks high with customers

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. – Citizens Bank ranked fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Region in the J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Retail Banking Satisfaction Study, with a Customer Satisfaction Index of 757. Citizens was ranked “better than most” in both convenience and transaction methods, and “about average” in the other categories.

Banks in the Mid-Atlantic – in which J.D. Power includes Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania – had an average score of 748 points of a possible 1,000. The region’s top-rated banks were Commerce Bancorp with 828 points, Community Bank with 808 and Washington Mutual with 786.

Wachovia Bank was fifth in the Mid-Atlantic, with a score of 754. It was ranked “better than most” in transaction methods and “about average” in other categories.

Bank of America was 11th with 733 points, while Sovereign Bank ranked 12th with 279 points. Each ranked “about average” in all categories.

The survey, released Monday, included no results for New England. J.D. Power had no immediate reply to the PBN’s requests for comment.
