Cox Business acquires RapidScale cloud-services provider

WEST WARWICK — Cox Business, a Cox Communications Inc. division, is acquiring managed cloud services provider RapidScale, the company announced in a press release.

The move is aimed at broadening Cox Business’ managed-services portfolio by merging transport and connectivity with RapidScale’s offerings for a platform to help businesses ramp up productivity and reduce IT costs, said Cox.

“Adding RapidScale to the Cox family enhances our value to business customers, regardless of size or vertical market,” said Steve Rowley, executive vice president, Cox Business.

According to the press release, the RapidScale acquisition is one of a chain of recent Cox Business investments via acquisitions and new capabilities, including Trapollo, Blueprint RF and Unite Private Networks, Cox said.

RapidScale’s recent honors have included a place on CRN’s 2018 Coolest Cloud Vendor list; being named a Silicon Review Magazine 50 Best Workplaces of the Year 2017; a place on the CRN’s 2017 Next-Gen 250 list; and being recognized as a 2016 Citrix Top Innovator for Enablement and Growth.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

RapidScale is based in Irvine, Calif.
