MINNEAPOLIS – A Rochester, Mass., businessman with connections to Salve Regina University and the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth was recently named president of ACA International, the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals.
The Minnesota-based ACA is the largest credit-and-collection trade group, with more than 5,500 members in 55 countries worldwide.
The new president, Jay Gonsalves, is president of Action Collection Agencies Inc., in Middleboro, Mass.
The ACA said Gonsalves holds a bachelor’s degree from the UMass Dartmouth and master’s of health services administration from Salve Regina University. Gonsalves has been a professional in the credit and collection industry for more than 25 years, the ACA said.
Gonsalves also serves on the board of directors as the legislative chair for the New England Collectors Association (NECA) and was also a past president. He has served the ACA on the national level as chairman of the Interstate Collections Committee and as a member of the ACA Board of Directors.
In 1996 and 2008, the ACA said, Gonsalves was recognized by the state House of Representatives for his contributions to the small business community in Massachusetts, and was honored for his outstanding dedication to the NECA in 1997 with the Robert M. Loomer Award.
