PROVIDENCE – CVS Health Corp. is holding a national career event in an attempt to hire for 25,000 clinical and retail jobs in the United States, including 220 in Rhode Island, the company said Monday.

CVS will host the event on Sept. 24 and applicants may apply online. The company said there will be no on-site applications or interviews.

The positions in Rhode Island are for full-time, part-time and temporary licensed pharmacists, trained pharmacy technicians, nurses and retail associates at CVS Pharmacy locations.

The national hiring spree would help the company “continue to respond to the needs of communities across the country during the fall and winter months when the incidence of flu is expected to increase and as COVID-19 vaccination and testing remain in high demand,” CVS said.

The online job process will include an application, a virtual job tryout and immediate hiring, the company said. The company also noted that it recently raised its minimum wage to $15 per hour.

“Every flu season we need additional team members,” said Neela Montgomery, executive vice president of CVS Health and president of CVS Pharmacy, “but this year we’re looking for even more. With the continued presence of COVID-19 in our communities, we’re estimating a much greater need for pharmacists, trained pharmacy technicians, nurses, and retail store associates. These jobs offer a rewarding opportunity to really make an impact on public health in our country.”

Individuals can visit the company’s career website or text CVS to 250000 to begin an application, the company said.
