The R.I. Department of Health recently presented CVS/Caremark Corp. executive Diana Lemoine with its Community Partnership Award. This award is presented to individuals and groups who engage in exceptional community efforts that support the mission of the health department.
A partnership was created between CVS/pharmacy, area hospitals and the Health Department’s Women’s Cancer Screening Program in 2000 to increase access to breast cancer screening for low-income, uninsured women through hospital-based screening events.
Lemoine worked as the liaison for each event, coordinating 16 events with Kent Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital and Fatima Hospital.
More than 1,800 women were screened at the events, diagnosing 11 breast cancer patients.
