PBN 40 UNDER FORTY 2020 AWARD WINNER Dave Comella, 39 | Chief information officer, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island
How has COVID-19 impacted your work-life balance? In the beginning, there wasn’t much of a balance. Running the information technology organization required a lot of hours to get everyone up and running with a positive experience while working from home. Luckily, things have stabilized and I am able to spend more time with my wife and daughter throughout the day when I’m not in all-day meetings.
Where do you see yourself in five years? I hope to be running a digitally transformed IT organization within [Blue Cross] with a seamless experience for our customers and associates.
What advice would you give your 22-year-old self? Invest every cent you make into Amazon.com Inc.
What is your greatest attribute that you bring to your job? I like to think I break the mold of a more traditional IT executive. I didn’t spend my career working my way through the technology ranks, but rather spent it working in analytics and understanding our customers.
