CRANSTON – Federal Electronics Inc. has been selected to build interconnect assemblies for the Trident submarine missile-guidance system.
The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory Inc. chose the electronics manufacturer to build assemblies as part of the Trident II MK6 Life Extension Guidance System, which aims to extend the life of the missile-guidance systems while reducing the Navy’s future maintenance and support costs.
Draper labs is serving as the Navy’s prime contractor for the MK6 project, and is overseeing the major subcontractors, including Federal Electronics.
The company estimates that production will begin midyear. •
