Homes for Our Troops recently received a $27,500 donation from Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Dunkin’ Donuts locations across Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts donated 100 percent of the proceeds from each iced coffee sold on “Iced Coffee Day” to Homes for Our Troops. Elsewhere, 5 percent of the proceeds from each iced coffee purchase were donated to the organization.
The $27,500 donation will help fund the construction of a new, specially adapted, barrier-free home for Army Staff Sgt. Michael Downing of Middleboro, Mass., who is a double amputee as a result of injuries suffered in Afghanistan in September 2008.
Joe Prazeres, Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee and Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation board member, said, “On behalf of Dunkin’ Donuts and the Dunkin’ Brands Community Foundation, I am so proud to make this donation, and am thankful to my fellow franchisees and our loyal customers for helping to make this contribution possible.” •
